An ultra-modern palace has been constructed and commissioned at Sanoma, near Kumasi, by Nana Antwi Agyei II, the Atwimahene, to mark his fifth anniversary of enstoolment.

The Overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who commissioned the \new palace, urged chiefs to be development-oriented for the youth to emulate. He said although the government is to facilitate development issues, the Ghanaian youth are looking up to the chiefs in their communities for development.

The Asantehene admonished chiefs in the Ashanti Region to be development-oriented and address the needs of their people. He bemoaned why some chiefs sell all lands without putting up a single school or hospital for the benefit of the community.

According to the Golden Stool occupant, unlike the years gone by when chiefs were fighting for supremacy over each other, the world has changed, and development is the order of the day, hence chiefs must embrace this agenda.

He praised Nana Agyei II for being development-oriented, which is evidenced in the building of schools, a hospital, police station  and a new palace for the people of Atwima in less than six years, to lift the image of Atwima and the entire region.

On the culture of maintenance, the Asantehene urged the Atwimahene and the people to cultivate that culture, which would see the new palace stand the test of time. He thanked the people of Atwima for working together with their chief to embark on development projects.

On his part, the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Eric Opoku Manu, urged Ghanaians to close their ranks and rally behind the traditional leaders to bring development to their various areas.

Nana Antwi Agyei Brempong indicated that projects executed in the area follow the good counsel of the Asantehene. Nana Agyei Brempong II promised Otumfuo that he would give a Ghanaian-German school in the area a facelift.
