…As Floods Hit Area Days After Petition Yo KMA

The fear of residents of Ayeduase New Site in Kumasi was confirmed last Monday when a down pour caused uncontrollable flooding as a result of chaotic developments in water ways and access roads in the area.
Days before the occurrence, the residents had petitioned the Development Control office of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to take steps to halt the unplanned and unauthorised buildings in the area to save lives and property during the rainy season.
Some youth of Boadi community who claim they are royals have taken to selling building plots along the banks and waterways of local stream and steadily encroaching Ayeduase lands causing the springing up of unauthorised buildings and structures on water ways and zoned access roads.
Mr. Akwasi Atuahene, spokesperson of the affected residents has reiterated his appeal to the KMA to check the unauthorised buildings to save lives and property.
