From Issah Alhassan

The authorities of Kwaso Rural Development College (RUDECO), the only public rural development school in the Ashanti Region, have made a passionate appeal to the government to rescue the institution from the precarious infrastructural deficiency.

The school, which was originally at Madina and later relocated to Kwaso in the late 80s, has infrastructural deficit, making it difficult to accommodate hundreds of students from across the country receiving training there

RUDECO specialises in the training of students in rural development issues, and also offers technical skills in areas such as carpentry, dressmaking, tie and dye, amongst others.

Speaking at the 34th Matriculation Ceremony of the college at Kwaso, the Principal, Mr. Solomon Mensah, said despite the daunting challenges, the college has trained thousands of students who are currently contributing immensely in various aspects of rural development.

He pointed out that a little support from the government in the areas of infrastructure and subventions will go a long way to assist the development of the school.

According to him, the college is virtually running on its internally generated funds, being monies realised from the payment of school fees, which, he said, is not enough

In all, 155 students, made up of 93 females and 62 males, were admitted to pursue the two-year course offered by the college.
