From Isaac Akwetey- Okunor, Koforidua
The Eastern Regional Police Command has arrested three (3) notorious armed robbers and three (3) dishonest receivers who have been terrorizing the New Juaben Municipality since September last year.
The three armed robbers and dishonest receivers include Samuel Akwetey popularly known as Kwame Agbeko, 35, the ringleader, Godwin Ametornyo,38, Isaac Agomor,22, and a certain Harrison, who is on the run and Charles Awuku,47, Mammud Zimo,32, and Godorn Boateng,28, respectively.
They have been identified as armed robbers responsible for all robberies in the municipality, including the one that took place at the Koforidua Doctors village recently.
Briefing a cross-section of the media in his office last Friday, the Regional Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Akuribah Yaagy, said Kwame Agbeko was arrested last Thursday in front of the Koforidua Ghana Commercial Bank by a Good Samaritan.
According to the regional commander, Kwame Agbeko, who has been declared a wanted person was identified by the Good Samaritan and subsequently arrested and later handed over to the police.
DCOP Yaagy continued that after thorough interrogation, Kwame Agbeko mentioned the names of the aforementioned accomplice leading to their arrest.
Two plasma television sets, laptops, pistol and other “operational” items were retrieved from their houses.
Whilst investigating and preparing to drag the suspects to court, the Eastern Regional Police Command has promised to smoke out Harrison, one of the suspects who is on the run.
The police commander urged Ghanaians to assist the police with information leading to the arrest of criminals in the society.
