From Michael Boateng, Nkoranza
Madam Stella Amoatemaa, Nkoranza South Municipal Chief Executive, has commended donor agencies for partnering the government to implement development programmes in the country.
She said the donor agencies supports had brought improvement in the nation’s socio-economic development, thereby enhancing the livelihood of the people. Madam Amoatemaa said this at a meeting of members of the Municipal Education Oversight Committee (MEOC) at Nkoranza.
The meeting was organized by a two-member team of Evaluators from Social Impact, a United States-based firm contracted by United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Ghana, to assess the impact of the Partnership for Accountable Governance in Education (PAGE) Project in the country.
The two were Mr. Saaka Adams, Social Impact Evaluation Expert and Ms Brenda Sinclair, Social Impact Technical Adviser.
The PAGE Project, launched in 2010 by USAID, to enhance education in 46 districts and which ended at the end of February, was implemented by Care International.
It offered both financial and technical support towards education delivery services and programmes, in basic schools and the Nkoranza Municipality was one of the beneficiaries.
Madam Amoatemaa lauded USAID for the launch of the project, saying there had been a remarkable improvement in the performance of pupils in the Municipality.
She said the Project provided six motorbikes to Circuit Supervisors in the area to visit schools regularly in addition to providing funds for fuel and maintenance of the motorbikes.
She appealed to USAID to extend the Project as the Assembly would strategize for funding support to maintain it in the immediate future.
