LabTHE PRESIDENT of the School of Business and Management Studies (SOBAMS) of the Bolgatanga Polytechnic, Mr. Gyebi Emmanuel Aboagye, has called on the management of the school and government to address the challenges students go through in learning Information Communication Technology (ICT).

He said even though management and the government had made some strides in stocking the ICT laboratory with some computers, a lot more needed to be done.

According to the President, the entire information system on campus has to be rechecked to make it function effectively. Poor network connection, inadequate computers in the laboratory did not make the learning of ICT attractive.

Mr. Gyebi said though the laboratory was spacious enough to accommodate a particular class of students for their ICT lessons, the computers are not adequate, thus compelling two and sometimes three students to share one computer.

Speaking at the launch of the second annual week celebration of the School of Business and Management Studies of the Bolgatanga polytechnic, Mr. Gybebi observed the fast trend in which ICT was being embraced globally and said Bolgatanga Polytechnic should not be left out.

He further said ICT could facilitate teaching and learning of all the courses/programmes offered at the School in many ways including research.

The celebration was under the theme -“The role of ICT in enhancing the prospects of HND business graduates in the knowledge world”.

The week celebrations afforded students the opportunity to take stock of the previous year’s activities and to forge ahead to improve the SOBAMS.

While urging his colleague students to take the study of ICT seriously, he appealed to them to conduct themselves well on campus during the week celebration.

A senior Assistance Registrar in charge of Guidance and Counseling of the Polytechnic, Mr. Callistus Dozie, charged the students to take their studies seriously and go further after the completion of their Higher National Diploma programmes.
