DCOP NATHAN Kofi Boakye, Ashanti Regional Police Commander has declared war on lawlessness in the city, especially Zongo communities, saying the days of lawlessness is over.
He said the Police Command would no longer tolerate any acts of unruliness from any individual or group of persons.
The Regional Commander, who partook in the annual WASA ceremony of the Manhyia Divisional command to review the work of the Division and share ideas, said the Police are more committed and determined to make sure law and order is maintained in the city.
He said the Police are committed to rid the city generally, and Zongo communities in particular, of elements who indulge in acts of lawlessness, while protecting lives and property to ensure that the region remained peaceful and stable for residents to go about their businesses without any fear.
DCOP Boakye urged the public to provide vital information leading to the arrest of criminals for the police to deal decisively with them. He said the Manhyia District Police would count on the co-operation of stakeholders in the area as the jurisdiction is predominantly Muslims communities.
Chief Superintendent Debora Addison-Campbell, Manhyia Divisional Commander commended stakeholders who supported the police in the maintenance of peace.
She also commended the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) for providing two police post and two motto bikes in assisting the Manhyia Division to fight crime in the area.
The Divisional Commander was happy that the Tech police station had been upgraded to a district status noting that it would step up security to deter criminal activities around KNUST, Bomso and Ayeduase communities.
