aaaiThe Melcom Group of Companies, on Wednesday, officially opened a new branch in Bolgatanga, the capital of the Upper East Region.

The presence of Melcom in Bolgatanga has come as good news to many in the Municipality and the region at large, because the people would now have options to choose from, and also to reduce time and resources spent in having to travel to Tamale to buy goods from the company.

In a brief remark before the tape cutting, the Joint Managing Director of Melcom Group of Companies, Mr. Ramesh Sadhwani, urged the branch manager and his staff to conduct themselves with dignity, and give very good customer care to all customers.

The Director of Communications at Melcom, Mr. Godwin Avenorgbo, and Director of brand management, Mrs. Soniya Sadhwani, both urged residents of Bolgatanga and beyond to patronise goods and services provided by the company, because of the quality and affordable prices.

Though the company is just beginning in Bolgatanga, its management has chosen to build a three-classroom block for the Atuliba Daboo Primary School in the Municipality.

The sod cutting ceremony was done soon after the official opening of the branch.

The Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Edward Ayagle Ayiriba, who stood in for the Regional Minister, Alhaji Limuna Mohammed-Muniru, praised the management for extending a branch to the region.

He acknowledged the importance of the private sector in the developmental agenda of the country, and called on Melcom to partner the government in areas such as roads, schools and hospitals.

Some of the customers, who spoke to this reporter on the sidelines of the ceremony, said they were so excited to shop at Melcom because the prices of items were moderate as compared to those sold in supermarkets and provision stores.
