20140720_130003The President of the Ghana Baptist Convention (GBC), Rev. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, has appealed to President Mahama to, as a matter of urgency, pay the amount owed them as health insurance service providers.

He explained that the failure to pay their hospitals across the nation money owed them for services they have rendered to subscribers of the NHIS would cripple their institutions in providing healthcare services to all. Rev. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi disclosed that monies owed them by government, as health insurance service providers, is in arrears for eight months.

“I will like to use this opportunity to appeal to the government to pay our children hospital what is due us as service providers of the NHIS, because we need it to manage our operations. Continuing owing us is a big problem, and we hope government will help us,” he said Rev. Adu-Gyamfi made the appeal when he addressed believers of the Baptist Church across Ghana in Accra on Sunday to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Ghana Baptist Convention.

The gathering, with thousands of Baptists, was also the 51st Annual Session of the church on the theme: “Celebrating the Past and Embracing the Future for Greater Kingdom Impact.” He reiterated that their institution was counting on the usual support of the government to enable them continue providing their services to subscribers of the NHIS.

He expressed the hope that in the coming years, many of the youth in the GBC would take up leadership training to become future leaders and deacons, as the GBC advances into a Mega Convention with more member Churches across the country.  Rev Dr. Leslie Hollon, Senior Pastor of the North Carolina Baptist Church, USA, said there was nothing comparable to God’s goodness, which must always be acknowledged by his creatures.

He said God’s goodness is constant, and that no matter the situation and condition at which His creatures find themselves, they should be thankful and appreciative.
