The children displaying their certificatesWorld Arise Foundation, an America-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) with a branch in Kade, capital of the Kwaebibirem District, has given educational scholarships to 10 children in Kade. The 2014 Educational Scholarship Award is an annual award for brilliant but needy school children in the area.

The beneficiaries are made up of five pupils each from five selected primary schools, and another five from Junior High School (JHS), and would enjoy a full year’s scholarship and also a full year of educational materials. World Arise Foundation is a humanitarian aid organisation providing nutritional food to the hungry, clean water to the thirsty, clothing to the naked, shelter to the homeless, medical care to the sick, education concerning women’s health issues, and opportunities for women without any educational background.

The NGO, with the motto “A Little Help goes a Long way”, also supplies humanitarian logistics to the poor in African countries, through product donations from corporations, organisations and individuals. From the very beginning, World Arise has been committed to educating women on health issues, enrolling women into vocational trade schools, and offering humanitarian supplies to the poorest of the poor in African countries.

The mission of the NGO is to provide education for children, health care for women, great care for the orphanages and abandoned kids with disabilities in the villages of Africa, as well as help the poor and needy in developing countries, as motivated by Jesus Christ. In interview with the Eastern File, the Programmes Manageress, Mrs. Ruth Nkruman-Martey, said the aim of the foundation is to give people across the world better education and healthcare.

Apart from individual empowerment, the NGO has further donated different kinds of hospital equipment to some selected hospitals and clinics in the district, in an effort to improve upon the health of the people. She has called on the beneficiary hospitals and clinics to put the items to good use, as well as taking good care of the lifespan of the equipment.

In his keynote address, prior to the presentations, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, who was the Special Guest of Honour, Reginald Osae Aboagye, paid glowing tribute to World Arise Foundation for the support being given to the people of the world and his district.

The DCE appealed to parents in the area to take the education of their children seriously, since every developed country depends on education, and that the youth are the future leaders of the country. On children, Aboagye further urged the students to also to take their tuition serious, and study harder in order to fill a vacuum in future when the aged are not there.
