Paramount Chief Of Suma Rekindles Communal Spirit

The Paramount Chief of the Suma Traditional Area, Nana Kwabena Affram Brimpong III, has given the assurance of awakening and inspiring the spirit of community development in the area.

According to Nana Affram Brimpong, as a people, there is no need to wait for governments to provide the needed development, but rather assist to deliver the infrastructure development desired for the community.  Nana Kwabena Affram Brimpong said this at the first Traditional Council meeting at Suma-Ahenkro in the Jaman North District.

He emphasised that it was the selfless and committed spirit that built most of Suma Traditional Area’s cherished institutions that brought the area development and joy, citing the commencement of the Sumaman Secondary School and Goka Secondary Technical School, which gave most relatives the start of educational development.

According to Nana Affram Brimpong, the people of the Suma traditional area started a clinic at Suma Ahenkro that created jobs for some and healed the sicknesses of the people, and the establishment of the only bank that has created the financial system for the community for several decades, which provided direct and remote jobs as well to the community. He expressed the hope that the desire for development would be rekindled for the attainment of Suma Traditional area’s developmental agenda, as he was aware of the daunting developmental challenges confronting the traditional area.

The Paramount Chief noted that the traditional area had more than what it takes to develop the community, but can only be realised when the people have a sincere, fair, just, and transparent leadership at all levels, who will recognise the strength of unity in diversity for achieving a common purpose and objectives.

Nana Affram Brimpong assured the people of a kind of leadership that would make room for accountability, respect for other opinions or views, and more importantly, encourage constructive criticisms that would provoke strategic thinking and ideas to develop the entire community of the Suma Traditional area.

He gave the assurance to join forces together with Nananom, the community, the District Assembly and other development partners both home and abroad, to work hard to significantly improve the educational and health infrastructures that would create a conducive atmosphere to promote today’s youth development.

“It must be noted that our enemies today are not people from other tribes or communities, but rather the stinky poverty, deplorable state of health care facilities, and low level of educational infrastructures. We will not allow them to defeat us, but rather, by God’s grace, we will defeat them,” he noted.

Nana Affram Brimpong revealed that he will seek audience with Nananom, various political leaders, opinion leaders, identifiable groups and individuals to navigate the strategies of these enemies, and attack them with coordinated efforts to win the battle.

However, he emphasised that the traditional area cannot develop without peace and security, so prayed that the people assist the Ghana Police Service and the other security agencies and the judicial system to efficiently and effectively administer justice for all, without fear or favour.

He warned that selfish and greedy people will not be entertained in his administration, and gave the assurance that everyone who will be assigned a task will be provided with the needed resources and support to achieve the objective of reducing poverty in the traditional area, and will equally be held accountable by the people.

Nana Affram Brimpong was saddened to note that only four out of the forty chiefs in the traditional area had been gazetted, and promised not to relent in his efforts to get all into the National Register of Chiefs in due course to present a strong traditional council to enable them fight for what is due the area from the national cake.
