From Isaac Akwetey-Okunor

The Corporate Services Executive of the leading telecommunication company in the country, MTN, Mrs. Cynthia Lumor, has entreated Ghanaians to help her outfit provide the needed quality of service in the country.

According to her, the provision of quality service was a collective responsibility, therefore, the general public has a key role to play by assisting to halt the cutting of fibre cables and stealing of batteries of the company. The MTN Corporate Services Executive made the observation during this year’s Eastern Regional Editor’s Forum held at the Capital View Hotel last Friday.

She disclosed that fibre cuts and interruptions, power availability, handset quality and stealing of batteries from the various stations were some of the challenges that have affected the quality service.

Mrs. Lumor hinted that her outfit was poised and committed to giving Ghanaians value for money, but the issue of fibre cuts by some unscrupulous persons would be a stumbling block if not addressed. She disclosed that there has been a total of 477 fibre cuts from January to August this year, as against 840 in 2013.

She therefore called on the general public to report any suspected act such as the cutting of the fibres and stealing of batteries from their various stations to any nearby MTN office or the police. Touching on how MTN has fared in the region, Mrs. Lumor said the company had provided employment for 6,287 people directly and indirectly, as well as providing various social interventions.
