The mission of the Edusei Foundation, which collaborates with other non-governmental organisations to empower women and children, is to facilitate youth development in the United States, Ghana and the Diaspora in a positive manner to improve their knowledge, behaviour and health. It educates and informs the youth and the public at learning centers through a number of workshops.

The Kumasi workshop, the first to be held in Ghana last Sunday after similar ones in London, New York City, Hartford, Connecticut, Washington DC and Toronto, Canada, was attended by 160 youth drawn from Freeman Methodist and other churches in Kumasi.

The one-day workshop, which sought to instill the attributes of positive thinking in the youth for development, counselled the participants on career and skills development in the areas of Nursing, Law, Business, Education and Technology, Medicine and Information Technology.

Mr. Kwabena Kwaw Boadu Edusei, a brother of Dr. Kwame Bawuah-Edusei, the physician, diplomat, business executive and initiator of Edusei Foundation, urged the participants to take the workshop seriously for their own benefit, while thinking positive in all their endeavors.

Resources persons who shared their experiences with the participants included Madam Morkoa-Chie Edjah, Mr. Lawrence Kyei, Mr. Jermaine Nkrumah, Kwadwo Boateng, Juliana Opoku-Manu and Daniel Kusi.

Ekow Forson of the Methodist Church in taking the participants through moral uprightness and integrity advised them to make Christ the centre of all they do. “We need to desist from youthful lust and acknowledge Christ in our endeavours,” he urged the youth.

Rev Forson told the youth to uphold their integrity, and advised them against evil acts such as lesbianism, homosexuality and masturbation.

Ms Cecilia Tandoh, who participated in the business group, told The Chronicle that the workshop had taught her not to always look up to the government for assistance, but rather think outside the box for a decent form of livelihood. “It is necessary students plan ahead to get self employed,” Miss Tandoh said.
