DIOCESSAN CHOIR PICThe Association of Methodist Church Choirs (GHAMECC), from last Wednesday to Sunday congregated in Cape Coast to mark its 40th Anniversary, since its formation in 1974.

The anniversary celebration saw all the diocesan choirs under the umbrella of GHAMECC in Ghana congregate in Cape Coast to mark the historic anniversary. The programme also coincided with the launch of a GHAMECC Compaq Disc (CD) performed by the Diocesan Choirs.

The 40th Anniversary saw choral composers in the Methodist religion, such as Kras Arthur, James Varrick Armaah, Kofi Tsemafo Arthur and Professor Yaw Sekyi-Baidoo, all witnessing the occasion. The anniversary was on the theme ‘Witnessing to Christ – Singing for Effective Christian Formation’, with the Presiding Bishop addressing the programme.

On Saturday night, the various diocesan choirs performed choral pieces at the various Methodist Churches in Cape Coast.

The Sekondi Diocesan Choir, together with the Somanya and Cape Coast Diocesan Choirs, performed at the Cape Coast Cathedral where various choral anthems were sang to the delight of the congregants. GHAMECC has Professor Yaw Sekyi Baidoe as Chairman and Mrs. Comfort Akosah as Music Director.
