Ashanti Minister SarpongDr. Samuel Sarpong, the Ashanti Regional Minister, has challenged parents to invest in their children’s education to secure them a better future, and make them responsible leaders to contribute their quota to the socio-economic growth of the country.

According to him, investing in the child’s education was the only legacy a parent could give to his ward to secure him a promising and better future to take up the leadership mantle in managing the fairs of the family, and the nation as a whole.

The Minister gave the advice when he visited some schools in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality and Bosomtwi District Educational Directorates to assess the situation in the schools on “My First Day at School” last Tuesday, and to welcome and encourage newly-enrolled pupils in the schools.

The Minister was accompanied on the visits by Dr. Safo Kantanka, Regional Director of Education, Mr. Joe Koranteng, Regional Inspector of Schools, Mr. Adom Marfo, Regional Planning Officer and Ms Animah Wilson, Deputy Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme.

Dr. Sarpong indicated that the government was doing what it takes to ensure quality education for every school going child, by putting pragmatic measures in place to realise such dream.

He stated that it was time parents took the education of their wards seriously in partnering the government to provide the basic needs of the children while in school.

The Minister also entreated the pupils to take their studies serious, and make friends with their books, thereby avoiding the company of bad friends, to ensure that their future aspirations are realised.
