Over 400 constituents of Afful Nkwanta, a suburb of Kumasi, have benefitted from a free eye screening exercise undertaken by the Charity Eye Foundation, a n0n-governmental organisation (NGO).
It was organised by the Assembly Member for Afful Nkwanta electoral area, Kwadwo Addai Acheampong.
The beneficiaries, including children, youth and the aged, who were diagnosed to have deficiencies, were given drugs to correct them.
They beneficiaries were schooled to keep their sight away from dust, smoke and other elements which are not friendly to the eyes.
The Assembly Member, affectionately known to his constituents as ‘Igwe, said the exercise is to help improve upon their eyesight, which is crucial in going about one’s daily activities and enhance productivity.
He noted that the exercise had come to stay, and would be sustained on a regular basis.
A participant, Hajia Ashetu Abubakr, stated that the exercise will go a long way to help the poor who cannot access healthcare.
