Ghanaians, on several platforms, have been advised to patronise products made in Ghana to boost the economy, but complaints have been that the locally manufactured products are of low standard, and do not meet market quality and tests.
Isshad Plus Enterprise, a local cereal meal producer, thinking through the line, has introduced products that would suit consumers tests and preferences, and also create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth.
Erasung Hadijah, a young graduate who conceived the idea, noted at the launch of the Isshad Plus Enterprise range of products that Ghanaians, especially the youth, need to be creative to add value to products made in the country to gain both local and international recognition.
She said every challenge is an opportunity for new solution or invention, as the Isshad cereal meal products came into being as a result of her personal experience with her baby, who refused to suckle breast milk after three months, and, therefore, had to resort to local cereals, which worked perfectly for the infant.
“After my child’s first birthday, I decided to use my entrepreneurial skills to assist other mothers who were going through similar situations, and also to provide families with a healthy and nutritious cereal meal,” Mrs. Hadijah added.
The cereal meal comes in Morin-Cart, Super Mix and B-Soya Porridge.
The head of the Food Insurance Support Unit, Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Mr. Ebenezer Kofi Essel, urged the public to consume foods that are produced under hygienic conditions.
He said food is eaten to fight against disease, provide the necessary materials needed for growth, and build the body’s immune system.
Mr. Essel, however, warned that if food is not properly handed, human lives would be at stake.
He also called on state agencies in charge of food security and safety to be proactive in ensuring that food processing companies stick to the rules and regulations governing food manufacturing.
He recommended Isshad Plus Enterprise range of products to the general public, as it is healthy cereal meals that meet all health requirements.
