A new police station built through the initiative of the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area and Chief Executive of Miklin Hotel, Mr. Michiel Nsia, a native of the Anyinasu, and has been commissioned at Anyinasu in the Ejura Sekyedumasi municipality.
DCOP Kofi Boakye, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, who commissioned the facility, commended the MP and Mr. Nsiah for the kind gesture done the police administration, and stressed the need for individuals and corporate bodies to partner the government in protecting the citizenry.
He cautioned the citizens, especially the youth, to desist from attacking the police for taking their colleagues into custody, and also pleaded with Nananom and stakeholders in the area to stop pleading on behalf of suspects for the amicable settlement of cases before the police, since it was a challenge to the police in maintaining peace and order, and for the sake of development.
He also expressed concern about the absence of a chief in the town for the past seven years, adding that such a situation is a threat to peace and unity in the area. The Muhammed Braima, MCE for the area, also commended the police for the good work they have being doing, saying the Assembly would continue to support the police activities, and pleaded with the Regional Commander for more personnel to be added, for they have only 38 police personnel in the area, to protect about 85,000 citizens.
Mr. Braima also appealed to Nananom not to give any Fulani a place in their various jurisdictions to settle, for the presence of these nomads in any place brings about an increase in criminal activities and robbery.
