As part of the Valentine Day celebrations, which is celebrated on February 14 every year and considered as a day for lovers, the Lower Manya Krobo Constituency Member of Parliament (MP), Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, has organised a free health screening exercise for his constituents.
Speaking with the Eastern File shortly after he had undergone the screening to set the pace for the constituents, the MP, who is also a deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, hinted that the exercise screening was the best love he could ever share with his constituents.
According to him, a sound mind and healthy body are the main elements leading to accelerated socio-economic development, because it would be difficult for an unhealthy person(s) to turn his or her energy into productivity.
The constituents, both young and old, impressively attended the programme in their numbers to check their Blood Pressure (BP), malaria, HIV, and diabetes status among others.
The Lower Manya Krobo MP explained that he decided to organise the programme in an effort to inject and stimulate the awareness of members in the constituency of their general wellbeing through periodic check-ups. He further disclosed that he would foot the bills of some constituents, particularly the aged, in the event that their health situation was serious and needed further treatment.
Notwithstanding the free health screening, the MP, a Biomedical Scientist and former Lecturer of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has decided to construct a modern laboratory for his constituents
He hinted that the laboratory, when established, would not only provide sound health conditions, but further provide jobs for the practitioners who would operate the facility.
