Sherry AyitteyThe Kpone-Katamanso District Health Directorate is in dire need of a vehicle, preferably a pick-up, to transport health officials to the various communities of the district to deliver quality health care to residents.

The lack of a vehicle, according to officials of the directorate, was affecting the smooth operations of the health professionals, that is, to deliver quality health care to residents in the district.

Mrs. Charity Awuah Darkey, officer in-charge of the Kpone-Katamanso Health Directorate, has, therefore, appealed to companies, organisations, individuals and philanthropists to come to their aid.

Another problem Mrs. Awuah Darkey mentioned was the absence of a resident medical doctor who would supervise the operations of the Kpone-Katamanso District Health Post.

According to her, at the moment, the District Health Post was being manned by two physician assistants, saying now that the area had attained the status of a district, the health facility deserved to have a resident medical doctor in charge.

She also appealed to the government to, as well as renovate the old block, as it urgently needs a facelift befitting the status of the district.

She said because of the absence of a resident medical doctor, residents in the area do not have confidence in the facility, and therefore, always travel to Tema and beyond to look for health care services.

Mrs. Awuah Darkey made the appeal when the Kpone-Katamanso District Chief Executive, Alhaji Atieye Tetteh, presented a quantity of diapers to the health post for onward distribution to nursing mothers who patronise the health facility.

Alhaji Atieye Tetteh appealed to the health officials to use the items for the purpose for which it was donated, as the company which made the donation had pledged to make a monthly donation to the health post if they were put to good use.

The diapers were donated to the Kpone-Katamanso District Assembly (KKDA) by Zanita, a diaper manufacturing company located at Kpone, near B-5 Plus Company Limited, around the former Kpone Police barrier.
