A 24 year old Computer Science final year student of the Koforidua Polytechnic, Master Redeemer Avorgbedor, was last Monday declared the overall winner of the maiden edition of the Tigo Yensor Nkoaa promotion in Koforidua.

He took away a 30KVA Kipor generator set among other souvenirs from Millicom Ghana Limited, operators of the Tigo Communication Network. Nine others walked away with power banks, rechargeable lamps and generators from the promotion, which was launched a couple of months ago in response to customers’ need of alternative power sources to help cope with the power challenges that have affected the country.

Speaking with the Eastern File shortly after the presentation, the thrilled but shocked Avorgbedor stressed that he was one person not enthused with these promotions, since most of them were not true. However, he had no option to decline the promotion, since one did not need any special registration, but automatically enrolled in it if you are a Tigo subscriber.

The Koforidua Poly final year computer science student continued that he was not targeting the promotion despite the use of airtime and browsing, and was, therefore, surprised when he had a call that he had been declared the overall winner for the promo in the region. He encouraged subscribers of the network to be actively involved in the promo, since it is real.

Throwing light on how a winner is reached at the 1st presentation in Koforidua, as well as the New Juaben Municipality, the Regional Marketing Officer of the company, Paa Kwasi Abban, said customers have to use their pre-paid Tigo line to make calls, send text messages, and browse the internet.

The Regional Marketing Officer indicated that customers can top up their airtime in order to reach the target, where each of these activities would be converted into points, which would contribute towards their targets. He explained that there is automatic registration for all Tigo subscribers for the promotion, with a daily, weekly and monthly update of the total number of points a customer has accrued.
