Residents of Apowa, Beahu and Agona Nkwanta can now heave a sigh of relief after heaps of refuse in their communities, with their health implications, have eventually been cleared by the Ahanta West Assembly, last Monday.
The head of the Waste Department, Mr. Owusu-Sekyere, together with the Coordinating Director of the Assembly, supervised the evacuation of the waste. The exercise begun at Apowa, followed by Beahu, and lastly, Domeabra in Agona-Nkwanta.
An aspiring Assembly Member of Apowa, Mr. Samuel Eric Mensah, joined as the waste was being evacuated at Apowa. Mr. Eric Mensah told this file that he was happy the waste had eventually been cleared.
To him, he had been frequenting the Assembly, and as well, talking to the head of the Waste Department to clear the waste. “I am grateful the energy and resource I spent in seeing the waste cleared has yielded fruits,” Eric told this file.
According to him, the clearing of the waste refuse has come at a time when indigenes of the area had given up hope that it would be cleared. “I am grateful to the Assembly’s Waste Department that after I spoke to them, they have reasoned with me and come to clear it.”
