2A sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a three-classroom block, office, store and toilet facilities for the Manos Nyankomasi Islamic Primary School in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region has taken place at Manso Nyankomasi.

The project, estimated to cost GH¢171,510, is being funded from the District Assembly Common Fund of the Amansie West District Assembly. The project is expected to be completed in six months.

The District Chief Executive for Amansie West, Mr. Alex Kwame Bonsu, who cut the sod for commencement of work, said the construction of the new block followed a recent rainstorm which hit the school, affecting academic work, and that the Assembly considered putting up a new building instead of rehabilitating the present building.

Mr. Bonsu appealed to parents to send their children to school to justify the huge sums of money the Assembly is spending on the project. The District Director of Education, Mr. Anthony Amoako, appealed to school children to study hard to enable them pass their examinations.

He urged school children to put stop to galamsey activities, and cautioned that any pupil found wanting will be dealt with accordingly. The Chief of Manso Nyakomase, Nana Saahene III, thanked the government and District Assembly for coming to their aid. He appealed to the District Assembly to provide the school with furniture.
