4The Director of the National Cardiothoracic Centre, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), Dr. Lawrence Serebour, has called on Ghanaians to adapt physical exercise as part of their lifestyle, to reduce the prevalence of cardiovascular disease.

According to him, lack of regular exercises and over consumption of fatty and sugary foods are major factors contributing to the recent surge in heart-related diseases.

Dr. Serebour made the call after a distance walk to mark “World Heart Day”, which was organised by the National Cardiovascular Centre last Saturday in Accra. He pleaded with individuals to go for regular checkups or screening to prevent heart diseases, as well as live healthy lifestyles.

The Ghana Most Beautiful 2014, Bentie Abigail Baccarat, also known as Baci, encouraged the general public, especially adults, to inculcate the habit of physical exercises. To commemorate the annual event, a free health screening and blood exercise were conducted to support the heath needs of the people.
