The Pinasol Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) based at Effiduase in the Sekyere East District, has donated a wheelchair to Master Stephen Frimpong Boateng.
Medical experts from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital claim little Frimpong Boateng is suffering from a disease called cerebral palsy with seizure disorder, a condition that has made him paralysed, and, therefore, unable to walk.
The Director of the foundation, Rev. Solomon Okyere Asiamah, who made the donation at Nkwakwannua, said it was part of the NGO’s health programme to assist the aged and vulnerable in society, hence the support through the assistance of partners on hearing of Frimpong Boateng’s plight about three months ago, after a specialist at the Pediatric Neurology Clinic of KATH had diagnosed Boateng’s ailment.
Opanin Paul Boateng, the boy’s father, was most grateful to the NGO for coming to the aid of his son.
The PINASOL Foundation is a humanitarian relief, development and advocacy organisation, dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. It provides services to all people, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender.
The NGO provides basic necessities such as food, clothing and health insurance to orphans and vulnerable children, and the aged, as funding allows. In 2014, the NGO enrolled five elderly men and 10 children on the health insurance scheme to help provide their basic needs in health delivery.
