From Sebastian R. Freiku

The Ejura Government Hospital, under the current management, has undergone infrastructural and facility improvement to enhance its operations.

The water system at the facility has received much improvement, as the management has mechanised the water system. The facility, which used to have no Medical Officer, can now boast of two, as well as two physicians.

Mr. Benjamin Kusi Dabbla, the Hospital Administrator, has expressed his gratefulness to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Alhaji Mohammed Bawah, and the Member of Parliament for the area, Mohammed Salisu Bamba.

Mr. Dabbla explained that the MCE has recently renovated both the male and female wards of the hospital, and further replaced the dysfunctional generator with a 110KV plant. He said the MP, through his common fund, also renovated the Out-Patient Department and Pharmacy block.

According to the Hospital Administrator, management had to waive the bill of some patients whose cards had expired and had no money to pay for the treatment of their ailments. He said due to the effective and efficient health delivery system put in place by the hospital staff, no maternal death was recorded in 2015.

The Administrator indicated that the management’s vision is to turn the facility into a centre of excellence, and also provide quality and accessible health care to the people living in Ejura and its environs. “We are sure to achieve the above through team work with all stakeholders,” he noted.

Mr. Dabblah noted, with concern, the abandoned maternity unit block, which is almost at the roofing stage.  He said the project was started by the Islamic Youth Association of Ejura, and called on other spirited individuals and organisations to assist in the completion of the project.

Mr. E Magnus Logy, Hospital Accountant, made a passionate appeal to the National Health Insurance Authority to reimburse the hospital on time for services rendered to the insurance scheme card bearers.
