The Central Regional Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO, Mr. Sandy Amartey Jnr has presented four boxes of Wallington Boots and 5 cartons of Crocodile Machetes to some farmers in the Assin North constituency.
The presentation, which took place at Dwenakyire, a cocoa growing community, was attended by the Chief, Nana Mensah III and his elders.
It would be recalled that five months ago, some cocoa farmers in the Assin North area had their farms infested by some strange larvae known as “caterpillar”.
The larvae eats the cocoa leafs as well as the pods and the beans and thereby destroying the crop.
As a result, the disillusioned farmers became so frustrated and made several appeals to various quarters including NADMO for support.
The Assin North NADMO Coordinator, Mr. Gordon Osei Owusu who received the complaints forwarded it to the regional boss.
Mr. Amartey who was touched by their plight, presented the items to the farmers as a means to relief them of the stress they went through.
Nana Mensah III who received the items on behalf of his subjects expressed his appreciation to the regional NADMO coordinator and his team of officials who visited the community.
Mr. Amartey was accompanied by Mr. Gordon Osei Wusu and other field officials of NADMO in the area.
