The President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi, last week Thursday introduced Nana Kwamina Essel and Nana Amissah Okye as the new Mfantsemanhen and Mfantsemanhemaa respectively for the Ashanti Region to members of the Mfantseman Council in Kumasi.
Nana Kwamina Essel, also known as Mr. Anthony Ammissah, replaces the late Nana Arkorful Owese, as the new head of the Mfantse community in the region.
Nana Essel, 56, is the Area Manager for Glory Oil responsible for the Northern Sector of Ghana.
Similarly, Madam Florence Aba Amissah, 58, a prominent baker in Kumasi, who also answers to Nana Amissah Okye, succeeds the late Nana Adjoa Kum IV as the new Mfantsemanhemaa.
At an emergency meeting with leaders of the Mfantse communities in Kumasi on Thursday evening, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi directed the Regent of the Mfantseman Council in the region, Nana Kow Akyen, who is also the Mfantsehen of Dakwadwom, Kumasi, to initiate the necessary processes to get Mr. Anthony Amissah and Madam Florence Aba Amissah sworn in and installed in their respective capacities as soon as possible.
The Mfantseman Council has also been directed, to ensure the two are introduced to the Asokore Mamponhene, the Overlord of the Nifa Division of the Kumasi Traditional Council, before the two are officially introduced to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi, who is also the Omanhen of the Abeadze/Dominase Traditional Area in the Central Region, commended the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for granting the Mfantse community in the region a seat within the Nifa Division of the Kumasi Traditional Council,.
The introduction of the two follows a report by the Search Committee, presented to him by Nana Kofi Enu V (a.k.a Nana Paul Sagoe), who is also Tufuhen of the Ekumfi State and father of the Mfantseman Council in Ashanti.
Nana Kwebu Ewusi also expressed the appreciation of the Central Region House of Chiefs to the Search Committee for meticulous work done.
Nana Paul Sagoe, on behalf of the Search Committee, thanked the President and members of the Central Regional House of Chiefs for the trust and confidence reposed in the members of the committee, and the opportunity accorded them to render their services for the promotion and advancement of the Central Region and the Mfantseman Council in the Ashanti Region.
Also present at the meeting were Okatakyi Dr. Amanfi VII, Vice President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, who is also the Asebumanhen, Nana Kofi Enu V, Nana Dr. Essel Banful, Medical Director of Adom Clinic, Santasi Kumasi, and Sanaahen of the Gomoa Abonkro Traditional Area in the Central Region, Nana Ninsin-Imbeah II, Ex-Nyimfahen of the Mfantseman Council in the Ashanti Region and the non-voting Secretary respectively of the Search Committee, Nana Amponsah Kwatia, Nkusuohene of the Nkwantakese Sub-Traditional Area
