Defence Minister Calls On Otumfuo

The Defence Minister, Dr. Benjamin Kunbuor, has called on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during a working visit to the region.

He was in Kumasi to acquaint himself with the challenges facing the Military Command, and inspect some ongoing projects.

Dr. Benjamin Kunbuor, who later visited both the DIHOC Shoe factory and construction site of the 500-bed Military Hospital at Afari being constructed by Euroget Group-Ghana, to ascertain the progress of work, announced that a number of initiatives had been launched for the welfare of the personnel of the Armed Forces to ensure that it assumes full protection of the territorial area of the country.

He commended officers and the command for making the country a safe place to live in over the years.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II commended the Defence Minister for the tireless efforts of his sector to ensure that the military are more equipped, noting that defence was a huge task and important to the socio-economic growth of Ghana in the maintenance of peace.

Meanwhile, Mr. Yaw Afoakwah, consultant of Euroget Group, also expressed the hope that the Military Hospital at Afari would be completed within 36 months – by December 2016 – on schedule.
