The Ghana National Scholarship Beneficiaries Association (GNASBA), as part of the National Sanitation Day, has donated 100 litter bins and 20 Fan Milk branded T-shirts and footballs to the Ashanti Regional Police Command to enhance environmental cleanliness within its vicinity and beyond.
Mr. Baffour Akwasi Oppong, National Chairman of the Association, at the presentation, explained that the gesture was to complement efforts of DCOP Kofi Boakye, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, at modernising policing through the refurbishment of infrastructural facilities at the command, which has brought positive changes in the police administration in the region.
He stated that environmental cleanliness was not only the government’s responsibility, and for that matter we should not depend on the government alone, rather observe environmental cleanliness as a core mandate or shared responsibility of every individual citizen in the country, irrespective of our political or religious dispensation.
DCOP Kofi Boakye, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, who received the items, expressed his profound gratitude to the two donor organisations for their contributions in the cleanup campaign.
He stated that it was incumbent on everybody to be part of the sanitation exercise to ensure clean environments in our vicinities.
He also entreated the various assemblies to enforce bylaws to punish those who flout sanitation laws in their various jurisdictions to ensure clean environments.
