The Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North Constituency in the East Akyem Municipality of the Eastern Region, Joseph Boakye Dankwah-Adu, has donated GH¢200,000 towards the completion of the Akyem-Tafo Community Centre.
This is the second donation within two years by the man, who is affectionately known in political cycles as J.B, towards the ongoing project, as he donated GH¢10,000 last year.
He made the donation during the climax of the annual Ohum festival, celebrated by the chiefs and people of Akyem-Tafo, which was colourfully attended by people from all walks of life, including politicians, and traditional leaders among others.
The theme for this year’s occasion was: “Be counted in our quest to develop our Community.”
The MP of the area reiterated that despite his constitutional mandate to lead the area in Parliament to make laws and lobby for the development of the area, it would be difficult for the realisation of dispensing that development without the collective support of the people.
He implored the people to see themselves as being the same people with the common destiny of transforming the area into a place worth living.
He promised justifying the confidence they (people) had reposed in him through development.
