2A palace has been commissioned by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for Kaase in Kumasi.

It was constructed by the Kaasehene, Nana Mensah Bonsu, who was installed chief of the community in June 2013, at the cost of GH¢400,000.

Commissioning the edifice last Friday, the Asantehene commended the chief and his elders for the initiative, and hoped other chiefs would emulate him in developing their areas.

He noted that the performance of the Kaasehene in such a short time was outstanding, and urged him to do more for his people in the area of education and health.

The commissioning was witnessed by chiefs and dignitaries, including Ms Patricia Appiagyei, Member of Parliament for Asokwa, Mr. Kojo Bonsu, Mayor of Kumasi, and DCOP Kofi Boakye, Ashanti Regional Police Commander.

The nomination, installation and swearing-in of Nana Mensah Bonsu, a 54-year-old former Electrical Engineer of AG Timbers, in 2013, brought an end to a dispute since 2008 over the succession of the late Kaasehene, Nana Owusu Yaw Ababio.

He has since ascending the Kaase stool prosecuted a development agenda to transform the community, which the Asantehene says is worthy of emulation by other chiefs in the Ashanti Kingdom.

He constructed the palace to befit the status of the community, which is an industrial area, his priority, and ensured that it was completed within the shortest possible time.

The Kaasehene has also promoted education by funding the rehabilitation of local schools by expanding some facilities.

He has rehabilitated classrooms of the local primary school from his own resources to avoid the shift system there, while the construction of two boreholes is on going to address the water needs of the community.

The chief has also provided two water closet facilities for the local Primary and Junior High schools.

Other projects the chief of Kaase has embarked on are the renovation of a toilet facility for the Kaase township, and the fencing of the Kaase School with the support of ADM, a private company in the locality.
