2The 1989 year group of old students of the Kumasi Academy Senior High School (KUMACA) has assisted their Alma Matter with an amount of GH¢80.000 in support of school projects.

GH¢50.000 of the amount goes into the construction of the old students science laboratory, while the remaining GH¢30.000 is meant for the renovation of the ICT laboratory windows, painting and acquisition of LCD screen, chairs and air conditioners.

Ing. Tabi Karikari and Mrs. Augustina Osei-Kofi, a banker with the First Allied Bank, as leaders of the group, explained that the gesture was from individual contributions of members of the group to enhance academic work, following an appeal by the school authorities.

Ohene Nana Kofi Dwumoh, a member of the group, also commended the management and staff of the school for the total transformation, discipline and commitment of the students. He entreated the students to be committed to their studies. Mrs. Eunice Appia-Nkansah, Headmistress of the school, who received the donation, commended the group for giving back to their Alma Mater.

She noted that their assistance will be put to good use to help the school achieve the aim for which it was given. She also appealed to the government, through the Ghana Education Service (GES), Ministry of Education and Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to help with the completion of their ICT center, a Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) project which was started in 2003, and was supposed to have been completed in 18 months, but has been abandoned due to lack of funds. She also pleaded with the KMA to help the school complete a World Bank sponsored Assembly Hall project to contain the increasing student population.
