Nene Atsure Benta II, Mankralo of the Prampram Traditional Area, on Saturday launched the 2015 Homowo Festival of the chiefs and people of Prampram, which was under the theme; “Be Your Brother’s Keeper.”
Representatives of three of the four ruling clans in the area were present at the launch. Also present to grace the occasion was the Ningo-Prampram District Chief Executive, Alhaji Sa Rhack Nartey, chiefs from other traditional areas, as well as people from all walks of life.
Various traditional songs and dances were provided to entertain those who turned up at the programme. Launching the festival, Nene Atsure Benta II called on citizens of Prampram to come together, put their differences behind them, and with one accord, move Prampram forward for the benefit of generations yet unborn.
He stated; “I am very positive that it is the utmost desire of everyone present that Prampram blossoms with peace, tranquility, economic and social development, and an even better future for generations yet unborn. But the question remains, how?
“How can we unravel this mystery? The only basic way is for us to learn to be our brother’s keeper. We must learn to love, support, help, and, most importantly, forgive one another. “Prampram is made of several clans, families and individuals.
Just as a tree is built up of interdependent parts, such as leaves, branches, stems and roots, to ensure that a tree grows beautifully, its parts play their respective roles very well. “Can you imagine a tree with no leaves, what about a tree with no branches? What of a tree with no root or stem? How would such a tree look like? Abundance of rain will be useless to such a tree.
“Gradually, Prampram, our beautiful land, is losing its valuable parts to extreme pride, selfishness, lack of brotherly love and unwillingness to forgive. “When we live like this, Prampram will fail to harness God’s blessing that may come through brilliant children, leaders, or even developmental projects,” Nene Atsure Benta II explained.
Continuing, he said: “Just as no man has been able to break a broom into two the weakest man of all can easily break a broom stick. We must be prepared to let go of the past, pick up the pieces, and move on. Let us forgive one another and surge on towards that fine future we want for our land.”
