The National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) in the Greater Accra Region has donated assorted items and an undisclosed amount of money, all valued at GH¢6,000, to the Frafraha Home (Christian Faith Foster Home) near Adenta.
The items include cartons of milk, cartons of key soap, bales of toilet roll, bags of sugar, assorted fruit drinks, detergents, cartons of milo, vegetable cooking oil, cartons of indomie, cartons of soya milk and assorted vegetables among others.
Presenting the items, the Greater Accra Regional President of the Association, Mr. Isaac Kofi Kportsu, said the donation formed part of the 2014/2015 NASPA Week celebrations, as well as their welfare/corporate social responsibility to humanity.
As a purely welfare association, it behooves on NASPA to live up to its objectives, by generously contributing to the welfare of the needy in society, Mr. Kportsu indicated. The President continued that inmates of the home, like many others, needed special attention and care to help bring hope to them to feel a part of the larger society.
Mr. Kportsu urged corporate entities, corporations, philanthropists and other spirited individuals to come to the aid of orphanage to help in their upkeep, because they are assets of this nation. He commended the personnel for their spirit of nationalism and comportment during the delay in the payment of their allowances, and urged those who will come after them to emulate their good example.
The NASPA President also commended the Executive Director, Dr. Michael Kpessah Whyte, and the entire management of the National Service Scheme, for revitalising the week-long celebrations this service year, and appealed to them to adopt new measures to help improve the scheme and problems facing the youth of this nation.
“The entire regional leadership of Greater Accra Regional NASPA is grateful for your support for a successful week celebration on a theme; NSS Meeting Community Needs.
“We shall forever be grateful for your kind motivation, guidance and directions; without you the service week would not have been possible,” Mr. Kportsu noted. Receiving the items on behalf of the inmates, the caretaker of the home, Madam Henrietta Asare- Agyeman, thanked the NASPA leadership for the kind gesture.
