It cost the church GH¢320,000 to construct the boreholes for the benefit of the communities, which are Manso Suntreso, Manso Aponapon, Manso Gyeduako, Manso Moseaso, Manso Dominase, Nanhin, Pakyi Camp, Semanhyiakrom, Manso Wahaso and Manso Abodom, which had two boreholes.
The provision of water by the church follows an appeal in May 2014 to Dr. Obesey, Chief Executive of Nadwos Project, who sought the support of the Latter Day Saints Charities Clean Water Initiatives, a technical project implementation programme of the Church, designed to empower communities whose citizens suffer limited access to adequate clean water.
The Latter Day Saints, through Nadwos, therefore, provided an intensive training programme for the District Water and Sanitation team of the Assembly on hygiene facilitation and water and sanitation programme for six months, leading to the provision of the boreholes for the beneficiary communities.
The Amansie West District Chief Executive, Mr. Alex Kwame Bonsu, while commissioning the mechanised boreholes, affirmed the government’s assurance to collaborate with private and individual organisations to promote the total welfare of all Ghanaians, including the provision of social amenities like potable drinking water.
