A forty-nine-year old former Military Commander at the Ghana Armed Forces Staff College has been installed Chief of Dadieso, near Kokofu in the Bekwai Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
Senior Warrant Officer Charles Mensah swore the oath of allegiance to the Asantehene, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace last week to formally ascend the throne. The former Military Officer answers to the stool name Nana Twum Barimah Apau II. He succeeded the late Nana Kwame Adarkwah Yiadom IV, who died in 2013.

The Dadieso Stool is a subservient to the Kokofu Paramountcy and is seen traditionally, as the home to the Asantehene. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II advised the new chief to exhibit a high sense of discipline, and serve his people with commitment and dedication.

The Asantehene said, as a former military officer, he expects the chief to live above reproach and serve as an example to all his people. “I know your background as a military officer, and the way you do your things; but know that being a chief is different, you need to be a leader who will serve his people, and then they will, in turn, serve you.

“You must also know that it is a favour we are doing you by giving you the seat; avoid politics and perform your duty as the leader of the people,” His Royal Majesty advised.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II further advised him to show respect to the Kokofu Paramountcy, and work in collaboration with him in order to bring development to the area.

Nana Twum Barimah Apau II, on his part, promised to abide by the customs and traditions of the Asante Kingdom, and work assiduously to ensure the development of his community. He told Ashanti File earlier in an interview that he would execute his duty on the principles of truth, God-fearing, unity, love and respect, adding that children’s education and social development would be his major preoccupation.
