3The Eastern regional office of the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) has advised workers of Joy Industries Limited to stay away from the use of drugs, and be cautious of people, so as not to fall victim to dealing in illicit drugs.

The counsel was given during a workshop organised by the management of the company for its employees. According to Ms. Linda Dakurah, a representative of NACOB, illicit drugs such as cocaine, marijuana, and heroin are banned by law because of their harmful effects on the human system.

She added that some health hazards such as the breakdown of the central nervous system can easily lead to madness or death. The Regional NACOB representative also related that involving one’s self in drugs may lead into engaging in social vices, as well as make such persons lose self-control and be prone to accidents and injury.

She further advised the workers to be cautious when travelling, because drug dealers can deceive them to unsuspectingly carry drugs in their luggage for them. Ms. Dakurah urged the workers not to get associated with drugs, because when arrested, they would be greatly embarrassed, and this would cause interruptions in the plans they have for life.
