The National President of the Film Directors Guild of Ghana (FDGG), Mr. Richard J .A Boateng, has challenged movie producers, directors, actors and actresses in the region to step up their game to make the industry attractive.
According to the National President, the movie industry is booming only in some selected regions, such as the Greater Accra and Ashanti, hence the need for the other regions, particularly, the Eastern Region, to come on board.
He made the passionate appeal at a workshop organised and the establishment of a chapter by the association for industry players in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua, recently.
The programme was heavily attended by all the major stakeholders to drum home the importance of the association in bringing all movie producers, directors, actors, and actresses together to produce good movies in all the 10 regions of Ghana.
Mr. Boateng urged production houses in the region to be part of the guild, as measures are being put in place to clamp down on any movie produced without the authorisation of the guild.
He further unveiled plans of collaboration between the Ghanaian and Indian movie industries, a move, he claims could bring economic and expertise relief to the industry.
Echoing the President’s position for players in the region to step up their game, a Kuamawood actor, Joseph Pamford, affectionately known in showbiz circles as Joe Shortingo, also urged any person interested in movies to invest in them, since there are good prospects in the sector.
