The Akyeremade Town Development Committee has honoured four personalities from the Bekwai Municipality for their selfless contribution to the development of Akyeremade, near Kokofu in the Bekwai Municipality, over the years.
The four are Joseph Osei-Owusu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Bekwai, Madam Mary Gyantuah, Bekwai Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Patrick Adu Gyamfi, Chief Executive Officer of Century Investments Limited, and Dr. Ibrahim Rashard, a US-based IT expert.
MP Osei-Owusu was mentioned as having contributed GH¢17,400 from his MPs share of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) for the roofing of the Akyeremade Community Centre, while Dr. Ibrahim Rashard had contributed GH¢12,000 over two years towards development projects at Akyeremade.
Mr. Adu Gyamfi was commended for initiating the Amansie Kente Festival since 2011 as a tourism attraction. He has also championed the promotion of tourism and culture with the initiation of the Akyeremade Kente Beauty pageant, for which his company has solely sponsored from the onset.
Mr. Adu Gyamfi, who initiated the two-phase GH¢150,000 rehabilitation of the local Community Centre, has also established a Century Village, an entertainment resort, for the area. He also intends to create a Children’s Park for the community.

He says his vision is for the Amansie Kente Festival programme to metamorphose into a National Kente Fair by next year, when adequate infrastructure and facilities might have been put in place.
Madam Gyantuah was also commended for her commitment to the development of Akyeremade, as she has always supported development programmes of the community, and partaken in the annual fundraising ceremonies over the years.
The Chairman of the Akyeremade Town Development Committee, Mr. Ben Boakye Duah, in a citation, commended the four for partnering the developmental efforts of the community, which has, since 2011, been regarded as the gateway to the Amansie District.
Meanwhile, Mr. Osei-Owusu, alias Joe Wise and also known as Amansie Nsroma, has commended the people of Akyeremade for their initiative and efforts at development.
He called on the people to contribute towards the establishment of an Educational Fund for the benefit of the people.
