The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ejura, Mohammed Salisu Bamba, has presented an educational support package worth over GH¢12,000 to some brilliant but needy students in his constituency.
The MP, additionally made an undisclosed cash donation to the District Education Directorate, towards a special campaign to help encourage girl child education, which is highly deficient within the area.
The package forms part of efforts by the NPP MP to help raise the standard of education in the constituency, and to support parents who cannot afford to bear the educational expenses of their wards.
Addressing parents and guardians at the presentation ceremony at his constituency office, Bamba entreated parents to take active responsibility of their children’s education, since it was the only way the potentials of young people can be developed to enable them contribute meaningfully to society.
“Education is the key to any society that desires progress; I will, therefore, plead with all well-meaning Ghanaians, especially, philanthropists in Ejura, to support the education of young children in the constituency,” he pleaded.
He also charged the Education Directorate to devise programmes and strategies that will encourage parents to send their wards, particularly, the girls, to school.
