Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has commissioned a police station at Domeabra in the Ejisu Juaben Municipality of the region. The project was solely funded by the Chief of Domeabra, Nana Kusi Oboadum I, as part of massive infrastructural development for the community.
Nana Oboadum I has within the past ten months, constructed a 30-seater lavatory, a four unit classroom block, and an Information Technology Communication (ICT) block.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu lauded Nana Kusi Oboadum I for championing development in his traditional area, and advised him not to rest on his oars in rolling out projects he has earmarked for his area.
Otumfuo charged the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Nathaniel Kofi Boakye, and his men not to entertain lawlessness, and deal with any person who fall foul with the law without favour, irrespective of the person’s political affiliation.
The Asantehene also encouraged the Ashanti Regional Police Commander not to tolerate chiefs who use his (Otumfuo’s) name for favours from him. Otumfuo commended the IGP for the various initiatives to give the police a boost in their mandate to protect lives and properties.
IGP Mohammed Alhassan disclosed that in responding to the quest to provide security to the citizenry, the police had been able to build 136 stations across Ghana.
Mr. Alhassan appealed to the Municipal and District Chief Executives, Nananom and traditional leaders to support the police to provide the much needed security in our communities.
DCOP Nathaniel Kofi Boakye, also known as “Commander One”, stated that the Police Service is a constitutional body, and urged Ghanaians to stop politicising the profession, warning that anyone who violates the law will be arrested and prosecuted.
The security capo cautioned that nobody can intimidate the police, and all political parties must conform to the rules of the game. DCOP Kofi Boakye attributed the success of the Ashanti Regional Police Command to the encouragement of the IGP.
According to him, the Domeabra facility would serve as the District police headquarters, while Ejisu is upgraded into a divisional headquarters.
