2Nana Serwah Amponsah has marked the 25th Anniversary of her enstoolment as the Paramount Queenmother of the Kumawu Traditional Area with a get-together of members of the Kumawu Traditional Council, members of the Ankaase Aduana Royal Family, friends and well-wishers.

The occasion was themed: ‘Aseda (Thanksgiving)’. Known in private life as Mrs. Mary Adomakoh, Nana Serwah Amponsah ascended the Taa Akyeampon stool in May 1990.

She recounted her experiences over the years, and said the tribulations she had passed through, particularly, in the last eight years following the demise of the late Barima Asumadu Sakyi II, had strengthened her resolve to ensure peace and development in the area.

She called on the people to unite and add value to the abundant natural resources the area is endowed with, in order to attract investors. Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua, Kumawumanhene described the Queenmother variously as courageous, principled, confident and modest, likening her to Queen Esther of Persia.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Kumawu Sekyere, Mr. Samuel Asiamah, commended Nana Serwah Ampnsah for a good fight to ensure peace in the area.

The DCE noted that Kumawu was on the threshold of development, and called on all and sundry to support his administration and the Kumawu Traditional Council to implement the development agenda of the two bodies.

Nana Amponsah Boampong, Nkosuohene of the Nsuta Traditional Area, who presided over the short get-together, commended the Queenmother for her untiring efforts at sustaining peace. Nana Ama Nyarko Abronoma, Queenmother of Wonoo, on behalf of all queenmothers in Kumawuman, presented a painting (portrait) to Nana Serwah Amponsah.

Among the dignitaries who graced the occasion were Dr. Owusu Baah of the Tema Women’s Hospital, Mr. Michael Yaw Nsiah, Managing Director of Miklin Hotels (Accra and Kumasi), and Lawyer Obeng Mau Jnr.
