Construction works on the 3.8 kilometre stretch of road from Bipoa Junction through Bedomase, Afamanso to Agona in the Sekyere South District has began in earnest, after long years of neglect.
The commencement of the road construction, which has come as a great relief to the beneficiary communities, is the result of a series of lobbying by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Edward Kusi-Ayarkwah, at the Presidency, which finally awarded the project on contract.
Kusi Ayarkwah indicated that the commencement is of great relief, since it is one of the prioritised projects since he assumed office.
According to him, the construction of the road was delayed following the death of the late President Prof. John Atta Mills, until the Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Nii Lantey Vanderpuije, visited the district recently. The DCE explained the importance of the road to the farming community for accessibility to markets in the urban areas for their farm produce.
The President, who had requested for prioritised projects in the district, gave the green light for the commencement and completion of the project. The DCE gave the assurance that every community would get its fair share of development, saying his major focus was the development of the district.
