Madam Magdalene Araba TagoeA woman advocate in the region, Madam Magdalene Araba Tagoe, has extended a plea to President John Mahama to set up a committee to investigate the circumstances that led to the error-ridden Independence Day brochure that has brought embarrassment to the country.
According to the woman advocate, setting up the committee was the only means of unraveling the mystery behind the embarrassment.  That apart, it would also lead to knowing those who contributed to the mess.

It would be recalled that on Independence Day, an error-ridden brochure depicting the programme line up for the day, led to Ghana being ridiculed by the international media after it was discovered that the brochure was riddled with errors, particularly where it described the Kenya President as President of Ghana.

This embarrassment has led to tongues wagging, with many Ghanaians calling for investigations.
It is a result of this that Madam Magdalene Araba Tagoe has added her voice for the President to set up a committee to probe those behind the mess.  According to Araba Tagoe, the error-ridden brochure could not be a mistake.

“This goes beyond mistakes, and the earlier we set up a committee the better.” For now, the acting Director of the Information Services Department (ISD), Isaac Kwarteng, who openly accepted blame for the error, has been relieved of his position. However, the woman advocate believes relieving the ISD Director of his position was not enough, and did not answer the critical questions that needed answers.

“We need to know who the contract was given to print the brochures and the hands the brochure went through before eventually it was printed out. If these questions were answered, we will get to know who did not do his job well.” This is why, according to the women advocate, a committee was important in unraveling the mystery of the brochure.
